The OSHA 153-Hour Oil and Gas Safety and Health Specialist program is a mid-level training pathway designed for professionals who are directly involved in implementing and monitoring workplace safety within oil and gas environments. This program focuses on OSHA compliance, industry-specific hazards, and safety procedures for upstream, midstream, and downstream operations. ·       OSHA 510 (Construction) or 511 (General Industry)

2. Oil and Gas Industry Hazards and Operations:

·       Life cycle of oil and gas operations (upstream, midstream, downstream)

·       Site hazards: pressure systems, rotating equipment, electrical, fire/explosion

·       Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) awareness

·       Hot work, confined space, and LOTO procedures

3. Hazard Recognition and Control:

·       Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA)

·       PPE selection and use

·       Environmental monitoring and exposure control

·       Equipment and site inspection techniques

4. Incident Response and Safety Documentation:

·       Incident and near-miss reporting

·       Root cause analysis basics

·       Safety data sheets (SDS) and hazard communication (HAZCOM)

·       Injury and illness recordkeeping (OSHA 300 logs)

5. Communication and Safety Culture:

·       Conducting toolbox talks and safety briefings

·       Reporting unsafe conditions and engaging workers in safety

·       Promoting behavior-based safety (BBS)

·       Supporting supervisory staff in maintaining compliance

Certification Outcome:

Participants who successfully complete the course receive a Certificate of Completion as an Oil and Gas Safety and Health Specialist, demonstrating their preparedness to support and enforce safety practices within oil and gas field environments.
